At Asbury small class sizes and low student-to-teacher ratio allow our students to receive more individualized attention necessary to better foster social skills such as cooperative play, getting along with others, and taking turns.
Using Abeka Pre-K and Kindergarten curriculum, our teachers work daily with small groups in subjects like language arts and mathematics to help them reach their maximum potential. All Asbury’s classrooms are equipped with video monitoring.

Reading Specialization
(Pre-K 4 & Kindergarten)
Reading is one of the most fundamental skills we can teach our children. Pre-K 4’s & Kindergarten students learn in small group instruction by our reading teacher. Literacy skills include: phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, writing development, comprehension and guided reading. Asbury Day School provides a strong foundation in reading, giving our students the ability to succeed in school.
2 Years Old
Open to children who are 2 years old by September 1st and are potty training (underwear/pull-ups). Our 2’s class will introduce your child to being in a classroom environment as well as develop a familiarity with daily routines. Following a curriculum that teaches colors, shapes, numbers, the alphabet and beyond your child’s love of learning will grow. With an abundance of time for play and use of imagination children will hear stories, sing songs, create art and experience new friendships with their classmates and teachers.
3 Years Old
In our 3’s class children begin to focus mastering their numbers, letters, shapes, and colors. They will also begin to conquer letter sounds as well as refining fine motor skills like coloring, tracing and cutting. Children will experience science, library, music and P.E each week and will grow in confidence as they build relationships with their classmates and teachers.
Pre-K- 4 Years Old
Our Pre-K classes help prepare your child to enter grade school with confidence. Our Pre-K 4’s classes experience science, library, music and P.E each week. Your child will also have focused small group time weekly with a reading specialist to equip them with early reading tools. Learning through fun, hands-on and interactive activities, children leave our Pre-K 4’s classes prepared to enter Kindergarten with confidence.
Taught by a certified teacher with experience in public education, Asbury’s Kindergarten curriculum incorporates the content areas of literacy, reading, writing, math, science, art, music, physical fitness and technology in a Christian environment.
Your child will meet 2-3 times a week with a reading specialist. Asbury has a 100% reading success rate for our Kindergarten classes.
Our Kindergarten curriculum meets all the State of Texas licensing requirements for Kindergarten.
Hands on activities provide extended opportunities for discovery. Play and discovery gives children the chance to learn at their own pace and maintain children’s interests, enabling them to learn new skills such as critical thinking and problem solving. In addition to academic content, our program includes activities in social/emotion development, Christian education, technology, weekly chapel class, music class, library, science, physical education and reading.  School supplies are provided and students are taught responsibility through maintaining a daily folder and reading bag. A wide variety of hands on manipulatives, learning materials and supplies allow the students to participate in activities on a daily basis. Students attend at least two field trips a year.
Asbury provides a variety of special programs for our students. We have an annual Thanksgiving feast, musical programs at Christmas and year end. We have an exciting Dr. Seuss week, Santa Claus visits, Winter/Summer Olympics, Themed parties, Dad’s Night Out, Mother’s Tea, Water Day, Field Day, Girl’s Glamour Day, Pirate Day, and Rodeo.  We also like to welcome special guests and speakers such as the fire department, animal preserve specialists, police officers, and many more.
Asbury Day School appreciates and welcomes parent involvement. From field trips to class parties and everything in between, we want you to feel comfortable and confident with your child’s experience at Asbury. For more information on how you can be involved please contact our day school director, Kathryn Bonardy.
