Student Ministries Director

OVERVIEW

This part-time position oversees Asbury UMC’s ministry with 6th-12th graders. Initiating new discipleship and deepening existent discipleship through the implementation of our discipleship pathway of worshiping Christ, growing in Christ, serving Christ, and sharing Christ is the driving motivator of ministry programming. Weekly responsibilities include Bible study, Sunday School, and a games and devo night. Integration of student ministries with the overall life of the church is essential, as is shepherding students into leadership throughout the church.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Lead students into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Grow the ministry through engagement with local schools
  • Lead weekly Bible study, hopefully multiply these by grade
  • Build a network of young adult volunteers
  • Lead a weekly UMYF/Encounter night; if possible, continue the development of our youth worship band
  • Provide quarterly Serve opportunities, included but not limited to Big House and UM ARMY
  • Incorporate a 3-year rotation of the basics of the faith in conjunction with our kids ministry, a list of those basics provided
  • Lead Confirmation every other year
  • Teach students about belonging with God and to themselves, taking responsibility for their own life with God, sharing their faith, sharing their gifts, Christian servant-leadership
  • Provide occasional fun activities that are easy for students to invite their friends to, and which create a positive first impression of church

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree and Experience Preferred
